| Bio: | Character's Name: Vash Series: Trigun Personality: Though it sounds like something of a cop-out, Vash has something of a split or a double personality. The surface shows something very superficial and light: a slight buffoon with an extreme fondness for flirting and donuts. The type of person who seems to blunder into luck and misfortune by turns, never really knowing how any of it happened and only getting out of it through a string of coincidences. A whiny crybaby who flinches away from fights and who turns away from challenges. Someone who's always just offering an empty but bright smile because he has nothing more to offer. Underneath, under the surface, there's so much more. So influenced was he by the words and the actions of his first teacher, Rem, that he utterly refuses to take the life of another. He's a pacifist to the extreme and he'll only harm another if there's no other way. He believes deeply in the ideal of love and peace, but he also bears the guilt of his brother's sins, knowing that Knives hurt so many and that he hasn't been able to stop it. Even with this knowledge, though, he still finds himself longing for the presence of his brother because his was the only constant company when all was so lonely---and, if there is one thing Vash can never handle well, it is complete loneliness. Backstory: Vash, much like his twin brother Knives, is a creature created by humans in order to create energy and, depending on his surroundings, food and water, as well--what they called plants--but, unlike other plants, the twins can move about freely without having to depend upon a controlled environment. Vash and Knives were initially found aboard a colonization ship and a woman named Rem raised them as they rather quickly grew into pre-teens. In this time, Rem tried to instill in the two her own beliefs of love and peace and she was mostly successful--at least until the twins discovered that they had diverging paths, Vash believing that everyone could be saved and Knives believing that one had to "kill the spider to save the butterfly". The conflict in this quickly escalated and it climaxed with the complete destruction of the Seed ships and the near annihilation of the humans aboard; the only thing which allowed some to live was Rem's sacrifice, but, even on the new planet, the twins continued to find themselves growing apart. Still, what choice did Vash have? Unable to stand being alone, he continued to follow his brother...at least until Knives presented him with a gun and suggested that he and Vash go slaughter the rest of the human population. The peace-loving Vash couldn't stand the thought of doing such a thing and, after accidentally shooting his brother, he fled out into the desert. There, he wandered for a while until he found news of a survivor of Rem's family; unfortunately, Knives managed to beat Vash to actually finding the man and another fight ensued; this time, Knives shot off Vash's arm and then activated his angel arm, thus destroying the entire town of July. After this, Vash earned a whole new reputation and name, but it also gave him the motivation to find Knives and settle the score--once he managed to recover from his injuries. As can probably be told, this is just a roleplaying journal. The character of Vash does not belong to me. He belongs solely to Yasuhiro Nightow. I'm just tweaking him and using him for the sake of this game. | |||||
